The Journey of a Questioning Heart
Van Hunt - A Heart Full of Questions (EP)
This six-track player is refreshing and magical without the mushrooms.
What I love absolutely about this EP is that I am forced to listen intently, for each layer of sound reveals a collective partnership of nuances, that completes each song. This EP is far from a jam it is purposely crafted in his own words "Nega, I ben holdin' back"
Track 1. Loose (no close-up)
Wow, let's open the EP with a waltz-time ditty and its complex oddities and eerie overtones
Track 3. Waitn (amongst the gypsum) Is that a hint of ragtime I hear—I can almost hear a George Clinton monologue over the P-Funk horns.
Sound is truly seminal to any language, but the language of music requires no dialect to be understood. This EP speaks to me. Zappa, Hendrix, Mayfield, 'Delic, & Stone... its all there.
This EP is certainly an evolution of your soul, Mr. Hunt. There are so many subtly woven references to a bygone era. Nega! You've been takin' easy on us. This is a delicious, melodic gumbo, served with no entrée and no dessert." A Heart Full of Questions" is an EP of questions that needs more questions answered in a full album.
